Careful what you wish for!

Have you ever had one of those days when you asked for help with something and then wished you had just done it yourself??? LOL
Enter my Sunday, I was working in one of my garden spots and asked Kerry to help me dig a trench around the outside, to keep the "creepin Charlie weed" out. Like the awesome husband he is he went to find the shovel and proceed to dig, so while I am there shaking out the worms (for my birdy friends) he is going to town. I love this man!!! Well before I know it he has widened the garden area and then proceeds to make this like 1/2 circle thingy at one end. lol Mind you I just wanted a simple trench to keep the weeds out, now I have about a foot more in width the entire lenght of our shed, and this 1/2 circle to come up with a plan to plant!!!!!

Looking into my plant books, going to find some type of perreinal so I don't have to plant this 1/2 circle thingy every year!!! lol I love him to pieces, but I should have just dug the trench myself.
Thinking of phlox, its a good ground cover and will last all season.

In other areas in yard, I got some Petunias planted in a window box on my bulkhead, and this cute little area on side near pond window well. We put Petunias there last summer and they grew like crazy.

So far day two of training was great, I've learned alot and can't wait to apply it with my new team and get them motivated to succeed... lol Yeah the optimist in me.... ;-)
On my way home this was really a crazy sight. I came across a sign that read" Drug checkpoint ahead" and then "drug dogs in use" and two cruisers with flashing lights on side of road HUH???? what the heck is that, are they after my ibuprofen???? I started my "feminine time" and I'm not giving up my ibuprofen~!!!!! lol I chuckled and kept driving..
Oh the things you see... I did have my camera, but thought if I pulled over to take a photo, they difinately would confiscate something.. so just use your own visual imagination to set the scene.

Since I am training, I never have Monday evenings off, it's weird I'm thinking its Tuesday cuz I worked yesterday and tomorrow is Wed... ??? UGH. Kerry had pot roast in crockpot ready, so I ate and will get to watch evening shows live instead of Tivoed, lol however I prefer not to watch commercials.. so tivo is better in the long run.
Until next time!

What happend to my Sunshine?

Figures I have a day off and it's raining off and on! But the good news is I did manage to work in the yard inbetween the raindrops. Kerry got the lawn mowed and I was able to dig up dandylions.. lol I know thats not the correct spelling but it LQQKs better! I did manage to pick up the small branches too and put out a new decoration in the yard. I'll get a photo of it later, it's too cute.

I did however take a couple snapshots of the 2009 book i'm working on, still have to do some journaling on the March/April pages tonight but then it will be all set for May!

Until next time!

TGIF

Found some time to work on 2009 monthly book, got a couple pages added, I love the mini book style allows me to complete something on an ongoing basis and takes the stress out of scrapping.
This book is 6 x 6 in size and using some of the WRMK papers from the White out collection, fun, fresh and funky!!! I'm loving it. I will get a couple updated photos added as soon as I finish up April's journaling spot.

It's good to have friends who think like you and are crazy enough to hang out with you! My best friend Rosa is back in Massachusetts and I miss her like crazy! We are so intune to each other we know what the other one is going to say before they do.... gotta love having a girlfriend like that. She is the "Louder" of the two of us.. lol love her anyway. I found another friend here in Illinois Kara, she also is wild and crazy and we have a good laugh at work and out of it. Wed., after the issue at work we headed to "On the Border" Yum and had Nachos, Empanadas, and of course Margaritas!!! Best part is we laughed and enjoyed ourselves thats what its all about right?!

Not much planned for tonight, Kerry took me out for a quick dinner and we will probably see if anything is on TV, if not I have General Hospital tivoed, that I can catch up on. Yup I am a soap opera addict.. LOL started watching this one way back in 1979 when my daughter was born. Out of all of them this is the one I have stuck with over the years. Whooooo Hoooo 30 years for one program and still holds my interst. ;-)

Tomorrow is a dry run day for me, I am training for a different position at work and need to go to another store for 4 days worth of training. I'm so looking forward to the challenge and change. Kerry and I mapquested the address hmmm is mapquested an actual word??? anyway we are going on a dry run as I have to be there at 7 am for the next 4 days. Weather is supposed to be gorgeous so I hope to do that early enough to work on my flower garden and do some additional weeding. I will definately try and finish up pages in book to add to my next blog.
Until next time!

Things to smile about

You gotta love this bird! He is too funny, this is how we spent part of our morning today taking a shower in the kitchen sink. Sparky really gets into it and makes the cutest chirping sound when I turn the water on, he scurries down my arm to get right up in the trickle of water.

It's things like this that make me smile.
Other things are :
Hearing from my children for no reason, just to chat.
Kerry making my favorite Chocolate Cake just because.
The little sparrows outside making dirt baths in my garden.
Getting a call from the library saying the book you wanted is on hold.
Getting Sarah mail or now E-Mail :-)
What makes you smile?
Have you ever had one of those days at work when something happens and you get very uncomfortable about it? UGH it happened to me this week, and I didn't like it. Not being afraid to state my opinions on stuff either helps or gets me in more hot water.. lol which ever comes first remains to be seen, bottom line I think someone was treated unfairly and I went above everyone there to the regional person for help. I feel better, but still need to see if "it comes back to bite me in the butt".
Crafty news: hmmmm not much going on that front, made a quick going on vacation card for a friend who was off to Russia to visit her family for a month. LOL she has issues getting along with her mom and brother, so I told her "remember you can't choose your family, you just have to deal with what you get"!!!! made her SMILE... I'm working on adding things to my 2009 monthly book, and hope to add to Duchess' book soon, I miss her every day.
Until next time!

Paw Prints

Hope every one is doing well in Blog land!!! Sorry I have been out of touch, lots of quiet time here at our house, remembering Duchess and getting into a routine that does not require going out the door the moment you wake up. I miss her every day but she is in such a great place now in puppy heaven and as my sister Cindy nicely reminded me she can have all the ice cream cones she wants now!! :-) this makes me happy.
So a bit of creativity finally flowing again, here are a couple of Easter cards I made, using the Quickutz animie birds, I just love them they are too stinkn cute.!!!

Furthermore now I have unlimited time for Sparky when Tia is not craving my attention that is.. lol Sparky just loves to take baths / showers hes gotten so if we just turn the water on to a trickle in the kitchen he will sit and drink the drops and fluff out his feathers in like. I love watching him enjoy this so much its too cute and I think photo came out well, you can even see the water dripping off his chin!

Last week I recieved an amazing gift in the mail from our Vet they sent along this beautiful poem and this heart paw print of Duchess I bawled when I opened it and still cry reading it. I was able to hang the paw print up in my craft room already. Duchess was such a huge part of my room always with me when I was creating or surfing the blogs.

Here is a copy of the poem:

I'm not there with you today
But know that I haven't gone astray.
I am the wind blowing through your hair
and the warmth you feel in the air.

When that smile creeps on your face
Remember that I am in a good place.
And when you're feeling sad and down,
recall memories of me running around.

You don't need to look low and high,
just search way deep inside,
and know that we'll never be apart.
For I have left my paw prints on your heart.

That you did Duchess!!
Until next time!

Spring Snow!

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh, and I thought It was spring.. lol but I grew up in New England where we could have snow on Mother's Day so this is not unsual for me. Just a minor set back in the blossming
plants.. This is what my backyard looked like when I awoke this am. Pretty huh? No ducks right now, they are probably under cover somewhere..

Looks like we might have to wait a couple days to try out our patio set this year. Kerry took them out this weekend to power wash them and get them ready for lots of backyard bird/butterfly watching. I planted some plants last year to the right of the pond, and they are right next to the circle that our furniture sits on. Up close and personal viewing of Hummingbirds and butterflies... Can't wait to sit and watch them this year, will be missing Duchess though as she always was by my side relaxing in the sun.

Ahhhhh so glad this weekend is over work was just totally crazy hoping for a quieter week.
Easter Sunday is this coming weekend, hoping to get my Easter cards in the mail today.. I'm behind cuz I spent all my spare time with Duchess these past few weeks, I am sure Family/Friends will understand..I will try to post a few of them when I get time this week.
Until next time!

Sunrise - the promise of a new day! Wed. morning on my way to work I could not miss this beautiful sunrise over the prarie. I am so blessed to live near a place that you can capture the beauty (kinda right in your backyard). The clouds were still hanging on from the rain, but you can see how amazing the sun is trying to stay out of them. Alas it was swallowed up but not until I was able to grab these shots.

Remember my earlier post about Duchess with her smiling face and thinking she was a person? lol here is the proof. Happy to go for car rides.

Hanging out with Kerry and my father in law Al, Hey Josh is there too!

Today will be a long day, I have to work tonight so in meantime I am just reflecting on how much we all loved Duchess and how grateful she chose me to be her owner. Duchess was 1 of a litter of 13, when I went to pick one out it was overwhelming to have so many cute puppies! But I sat down on the floor and this little one kept coming over and crawling on me. I tried playing and looking at the others, but nope she chose ME!!! How lucky was I??? Love you puppy. Her full registered name was: Duchess of Townsend. Duchess or not she lived like a Queen. lol

Until next time!

RIP Duchess 9-13-96 -- 4/2/09

Yesterday Kerry and I said our final goodbyes to Duchess, she was the best dog ever! Duchess is now finally at rest no longer struggling for every breath she takes. This last photo was taken yesterday morning. I took her out to do her business and after she was through she walked and sniffed her way around the backyard headed right to the end of the property and sat or should I say laid down here. From this point in the yard Duchess could see everything. I truly believe she was enjoying it. Pets can just be pets or they can become family members. Duchess was a family member in every way. She thought she was a people.. lol didn't help that I treated her like a kid either. When we went for rides she would be just like any dog hanging her head out the window and SMILING.... if we stopped for something and I had to go in a store, I would come out and find her sitting in the drivers seat just looking and waiting.
Kerry remembered the first time he came to pick me up I was not completely ready and I asked him to walk my dog!!! LOL poor guy should have known it was a set up- from that moment on Duchess belonged to him too!
My heart is broken, but full of so many memories and love of her- May you rest in peace puppy!
I love you so much..... mom

Until next time!
