Sarah Mail!

The bestest day of the week for me is anytime I get "Sarah Mail", I just love it! You see Sarah is my Goddaughter and only niece who is 12. I love her to pieces and I just completely am floored that she has maintained a written conversation thru the US Mail with me since I moved to Illinois 7 years ago! I totally just put everything aside to sit and read the mail when it arrives, Kerry knows how much it means to me so if he gets the mail before me he leaves it right on the counter where I can see it. I love this guy!

It is amazing in this generation of high technology that she still choses this form of communication with Aunt Lorry :-) I just totally love that we have this unique bond formed over the years mainly through written correspondence. She keeps the letters to herself and will occasionaly share some tidbit with my sister but otherwise is just her information alone.

I'm excited to say I purchased a new quickutz alphabet today also. I love the 4 x 8 dies and Archivers had the "Supermarket" one available and still having a 30% off coupon that expired today I grabbed it. I also ordered online the bird and bird house ones both sizes and can't wait for them to arrive. I know they will get used on my cards/projects/layouts alot.

Until next time!

Creative Thursday

Well here it is again Creative Thursday, not much creating done as of yet but time well spent over lunch with a friend. I love Mexican food and since Kerry doesn't like spicy stuff I am always looking for someone to go with me. Tuesday a co worker asked me if I wanted to go to lunch today and I said sure. I was happy to spend time with this new friend and learn more about her.

Looking forward to working on some creative items now that my belly is full. I have a layout in mind using some photos of Kerry and also some Valentine projects up my sleeve.

Ok so here is my layout for today plus another view from my craft room! Thanks for looking

Until next time!

Weekend Doings

Well yesterdays adventure was a bit chilly. I had left the lights on in the car all day at work, UGH. I usually turn them off as I drive into the work parking lot, but I got distracted by myself muttering to the slowpoke infront of me on the road (yes I do talk to myself in vechicles among other places.. haha sometimes I even answer myself) and I didn't flip the switch. So after a long day I go out to head home, I of course right away notice the light is on in back of vechicle and just know this is not gonna be good.

Well of course it wasn't not only did I have frost on inside windshield car will not turn over. I called Kerry to come with jumper cables, and sat in car to wait. Yup of course it's cold and brrrr the frost is now increasing lol.

Today being Sunday I figure I'll stop in at Michaels on way home, I was holding a 50% off coupon and figured I would splurge on a jar of Martha Stewart's glitter. I chose the Ruby color this time to add to my sparkly collection and they sure look pretty sitting on my shelf. I wanted to get the 24 pack but thought that was a bit too much so I will save up my 50% off coupons and keep adding, the jars are larger anyway and will last longer not to mention I can choose exactly which ones I want!

I saw the new CHA Quickutz releases online and think I will have to get both the 2 x 2 bird and house and the 4 x 4 one need to ration out my pennies for that. I have been making a wish list of some new paper lines found: Happy Birdday and What a Hoot, from 3 Bugs in a Rug line.

Maya Road has a Dinosaur chipboard book coming out that would be fablous with the Basic Grey Archaic line I have been hoarding. also Crate Paper has Lillian, Little Sprout, and Orbit which all could be used by moi. Last but not least Carolee Creations has a "Fern" line which I liked. Now off to see if I can find links to add, and take a photo of sparkly glitter for you to enjoy!
Until next time!

Creative Thursday

So today I should have been crafting being creative Thursday an all. But I was crafty with my blog that counts right? I changed up a few things added some personality take a peek around see if you notice my wit! hehehe
I do have a baby card needing to finish up and I really need to make some birthday cards for my stash, possibly start on some Valentines as that is coming up soon. Owl be having fun with those for sure.
I do have the best Valentines/Anniversary present for Kerry tucked away. It's actually something both of us will enjoy and I'm glad I purchased the tickets when I first saw it I have not seen it advertised since. I can give a small hint I want to travel there more than any other place in the world.. lol Hoping for a better hint? lol not yet Kerry just might read this blog again and figure it out!

Off to work on cards for now, and wait for the new 2 hour Bones to come on. If I complete the cards will photo them and add to post later (now that I know how to do this! ) lol

Until next time!

This is progress!!

Remember the tv is down? well today the repair person is supposed to come, I am home waiting as Kerry is out delivering something. I hardly ever answer the business line, but today I did and I get "you have tv repair"? (in Oriental sounding voice) I was like what? " I be there before 5" what? "you have tv repair"? I come before 5" ahhhh, I get you now You are going to repair tv and will be here by 5pm? "yes, I call if I can come early ok"? Well hell ya if you can come early please do! UGH... so I call Kerry in all my sarcastic glory and repeat conversation verbatim. hehehe, I tell him he's coming all the way from Mitisubishi direct to repair our tv.. giggle....

Any way since I am home waiting for either Kerry or the call to come early, I finished up Sis in law's book. I was pretty pleased with the outcome I used the chipboard house and Love Elsie
Jack & Abby.. very fun here are a couple photos to enjoy!

Until next time!

Who knew Dominos were so versatile?

Today we worked on the most creative project in a long time. As a volunteer for Chicago Cares our team worked on a mosaic of Dr. Martin Luther King. It was awesome, cut from tile and mounted on a red wooden background it was made up entirely of dominos ! Yes you read right dominos and all mapped out into a grided format.

Watching this project take place and come to a complete visual right before our eyes was great. We were creating this to be hung in an entrance way at a school in Chicago. You can see in the photo above the red spots were remaining to fill in with connector dominos once they were all in place and glued in the final image was awesome. (completed photo on very top).
I was able to upload these images, now I need to learn to upload smaller images to click on and appear larger. LOL
Until next time!

Remembering Fred

I was sad to hear from Jennifer tonight. Poor girl had to put her Fred to sleep today he was ill with Lymphoma. :-( She has had Fred for 9+ years and he was her baby. Thank goodness he is now resting comfortable with Chanel, Sam and Cleo.

In other news I figured out how to post a photo to this blog!! Whooo hooo will wonders never cease.
I look forward to posting more now as time goes on.

I am off to work on yesterdays creative project for sister in law and hope to finish it up tonight.

Tomorrow the group from Target is going into Chicago for Chicago Cares, it's a volunteer day in celebration of Martin Luther King and we always have a blast in years past we have made book shelves for schools, painted at various schools created murals, read to elderly.. It's a feel good day and I look forward to this years project.

Until next time!

Creative Thursdays

Today I practiced printing photos with my cute little Canon Selphy CP510, I picked it up at Target a few years back on clearance, and it's just been sitting in my Creative space since then.

Well, remember Jennifer came to visit? That was one of the many things she helped me get hooked up. Today I managed to print out a couple photos of snow in front yard. This is progress for me, I am so excited to learn new things and put them into practice. Oh I know this is not rocket science but I find it easier to remember if I do it rather than read it. Definately a "hands on learner here".

I think we wore out the 65" tv with toooo many Bones episodes in a row! Last night we went to turn it on to watch Criminal Minds and no sound, no picture, no nothing.. the dish appears to be recording (thank goodness) but nothing available on live tv. Kerry called repair service today and will not be here till Monday to look at it. Good thing we have a "little tv" in bedroom, lots of relaxing under covers coming up, and Kerry will be in bed already when he falls asleep lol .

It was so cold out today, even in the sun so I spent day in a Creative mode working on a garden book for my sister in law. I have one of the chipboard houses from creative imaginations and will be painting and decorating it with "Love Elsie" house papers and photos. I really want to post these pictures so that will be my project (behind the scenes).

Until next time!

BRRRR -12*

Winter is back in full force here in Naperville. We have lots of snow now and todays conditions are very cold and windy. The current temp is -12 and expected to drop tonite with wind chill factors to -25!!

I made sure to take a couple photos this time, after all the snow we got this past December I didn't take one single photo, but purchased paper to scrapbook! LOL it's the obsessive need to have new paper all the time, it's so pretty and you never know when you might need it. I do love patterned papers more so than cardstock (not that I don't have a healthy supply of that either).

Tommorow being Thursday and my day off from Target, I hope to get winter photos downloaded and figure out how to post to my blog. It can't be that hard, and I love to read so I will just follow the Google Blogger guide. :-)

Until next time!

You can SEE me now

Oh boy I'm excited, was able to link a self photo to my blog. Yes that is progress and I managed to do it without even calling Jennifer!
I'm enjoying the blogging world, I have been stalking online blogs for a few years now and wanted to start my own, but who wants to know what MY life is about anyway?

So for now it will be a place for me to get comfy with kick back and try to learn new things, and keep intouch with family and any friends who come across it.

Until next time!

Nature Calls

Go figure! Duchess (dog) could lay on couch entire day when Kerry is home, but if I am home and up she needs to go out all day. I understand a weak bladder but come on every 1/2 hour or if I move from one room to the next she figures ohhhh yeah we can go out again. Problem is she will usually go :-) Well its a bit of snow on ground and 20 degrees so nippy too, would not be so bad if I was dressed but it's Thursday and its PJ day! lol

In other nature, I being the avid bird watcher I am have been enjoying my new binoculars from my inlaws. I can sit in my chair and enjoy the birds, even discovered that on Cardinals the female and young male have red ebrows! Hows that for trivia! :-)

Thursdays will mostly be my full crafty creation day. I am currently making a mini type album for 2009, planning to add journaling and a couple photos monthly. Right now I am putting it together as a 6 x 6 with 3 rings on side, I want to creat the basis of the album so I only have the journaling and photos to add as I go. This will be a year long process and I look forward to working on it and will get photos added and posted to my blog for viewing. (this is where Jennifer comes in again.. lol, shes my go to resource! Love you ! )

Until next time!

Reach out and Touch Someone

For those of you old enough to remember this was a long time advertising slogan for AT&T.
It came into play tonight when I received a call from my sister Carrie. She was informing me of some family matters, well one thing led to another and she and I spent quite some time reaching out and touching our funny bones. The thing about Carrie and I is we really share the same weird sense of humor always have and always will even if 1200 miles apart.

Thanks for sharing your Newbury Street and Origami Swan stories, I will file them both away for future reference :-) .

Moving forward in my quest for crafty things I am loving the new Hero Arts Owl stamps and sought out an online supplier. I hope everything goes well, it's hard trying out new online stores one never knows, but like Carrie said did I want the stamps bad enough to take the risk? UMMMM Yes! lol

Until next time!

Resolutions

Did you make any? I know it's a bit later than most to make them but I generally do not make unrealistic goals for myself anyway.

My goals this year are like many:
1. To get "healthy" by eating better and walking again. I do love food, and the thing is I really love the veggies and fruits that are good for you. So what's my problem you say, well it's like this I really love the bread, pasta, and sweets too!

2. To create more long term items, most of my creating for 2008 were gifts for others, this year I want to Gift myself with the memories.

3. Live life to the fullest, enjoying my family everyday realizing how short life really is.

4. To continue this blog, I can't say how often I will post but when I do it will refresh the memories I had creating it.

Until next time!

Shift, Cut, Paste

Basic computer terms I know, but long forgotten. Thanks to Jennifer I now have my photos all online and in seperate folders. Organization at its finest!

Yesterday we spent the evening improving my digital knowledge of my camera and computer in sync with my brain (not an easy task). Now it's up to me to continue learning and putting that knowledge to use. I look forward to being able to post samples of my work and photography even if it's for my own usage.

Jennifer flys home tonight I will miss having her around. But I can now Cut and Paste her into my life anytime I want to :-) Love you Jen! Thanks for visiting and helping me get started.

Until next time!

Catching Up

Catching up with Jennifer, Catching up with technology, Catching up with tv.
I've been enjoying having Jennifer visit and will be sad to have her leave tomorrow, but will look forward till the next time.

Have you seen the tv series Bones? We have been catching up on that too, hard to believe its been around for 3 Seasons already and we have never watched it. Kerry found it while surfing one night and recorded it, well let's say we both liked it and I proceded to get Season One. See this is how I begin to catch up with tv. Watching Season One was fun, we would just keep going till the next one often watching 3 or 4 episodes at a time. Ahhhh Christmas came and I figured Season Two and Three would be well worth the $. We have been watching with Jennifer and she seems to like it also.

So moving on to catching up with technology, today I hope to get my digitial photos onto my computer and stored so I can learn how to add photos to my blog. This is where Jennifer comes in again, I'm sure she will be glad to be finished "teaching Mom new tricks"!

Until next time!

New Year - New Blog

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2009 and my attempts at getting more digitized and techno savy. A huge thank you to my daughter Jennifer who shall I say painstakingly helped me create this new blog! I'm thrilled she is here to visit and help me get organized and digitized :-) Love you Jen!

Until next time!
